Design of a residence “Dom Kamienny” 430m2, Poland

The assumption of the project was to create a block separating the residents from the nearby street, noise and gazes of neighbors. The other side of the house allows the household members to have the fullest possible contact with nature and the forest cover.

The outer walls of the building are covered with gray slate, giving the building a modern and majestic appearance. To break the impression of massiveness, all glazing is finished with wood. The house has been designed to minimize energy consumption. It uses solutions in the form of a heat pump, solar collectors built into the window frames and photovoltaic cells.

The strengths of this project are functional and spatial solutions. Glazing in the entrance area and on the mezzanine create the impression of breaking the building’s body into two parts. The living room, dining room and kitchen constitute one open space, designed in a way that allows for clear separation of individual functions.
The fireplace wall in the living room, combined with a large glass wall with a view of the Forest, creates an atmosphere of peace and tranquility in this interior. The mezzanine, visible from the living room, is a recreational space where you can watch movies, read books, play board games. It connects directly with the children’s rooms zone, also fulfilling the function of a playroom.
Other rooms in this house are also multifunctional, e.g. an office can be easily turned into a sculpture studio of the master of the house.
On the plot surrounding the house there is a place for an outdoor swimming pool. Its structure, thanks to the fact that the whole area is deepened in the area and the walls and roof are covered with soil, do not interfere with the view from the building to the surrounding forest.
